Impact The Valley Update – Thursday, July 22

July 22nd, 2010 by Tobi

Well, it looks like the students are having such a great time serving that they don’t want to stop.  How is that for being the hands and feet of Jesus?  Steve Jennings needed some kids to move some things from one warehouse to another on Friday and our kids quickly volunteered.  They have been working in hot conditions all day, all week and they want to serve more. God is moving.  They will move the warehouse in the morning then grab lunch and head back to Ashburn.  These students have been such a light this week.  This morning Impact the Valley was on WPER radio and they have already been featured in an article in the Front Royal newspaper.  Today, at the job site where Scotty and I were earlier this week with Caty, Rachel and Faith (Liz is there now) another newspaper is interviewing the students.  This work is not just making an impact on the lives of the people we are working for but on the community.

Each day volunteers repair homes belonging to elderly, disabled and other poor people. In the evenings they share meals, worship together and enjoy recreational activities.” (Teens Opposing Poverty Website)

Pastor’s Paragraph – July 18, 2010

July 17th, 2010 by Christ Community Church

Dear friends,

We have several very significant “new” reasons to praise God this morning.

Mike and Kalila Warner have a “new” life from God by the name of Eva. They come today to dedicate her and themselves to Him.

Tobi Rouse and 15 others will begin a “new” week of ministry this afternoon with Impact the Valley. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with this ministry. This will be our second year of working with them and I am looking forward to hearing of how the week goes. By the way, if you’re not aware our very own Morgan Simmons is doing a fine job as an intern with this ministry this year.

And then finally, Geoff Howard will kick off a “new” series in the Old Testament book of Daniel. We are trusting God to have Daniel’s life and prophecy help us to trust and obey, to trust God in the grand sweeps of history and yet also to obey Him in the everyday stesses of our lives.

I’m thrilled you’re here.

Jeff

Co-ed Softball Comes To An End

July 16th, 2010 by Christ Community Church

Christ Community Church SoftballWednesday night brought the end of a tumultuous season for Christ Community Church softball.  While the season was marked with ups and downs in terms of the record, it was all highs, emotionally speaking, for those involved.

Throughout the 2010 season, the team played well in the field but, at times, had trouble getting the bats going.  Despite the lack of hits in those games, the team was able to pull out some wins based on the great defensive work in the field.  Strong plays at short and second resulted in

Pastor’s Paragraph – July 11, 2010

July 9th, 2010 by Christ Community Church

Dear friends

Today we have the great privilege and responsibility to commissioning Cody Andersen. Cody leaves this Tuesday for his six-month ministry with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in Dublin Ireland. It is just thrilling to see what God has done in Cody’s life over these years. He will be studying God’s word in their Discipleship Training School (DTS) and then ministering and serving in several European cities.

We also are concluding our 5 weeks series on the person and work of the Holy Spirit by gathering around the fire pit at Creation Fest, well, sort of. For in that fire pit there lie 2 images of how we can respond to the Holy Spirit, one with great benefit for our lives and one with great loss.

It is my prayer and deep desire that you as a person, we as a community of Christ followers and Cody as a sent one, know the benefits of rightly responding to the Holy Spirit.

It’s good to have you here.

Jeff
